Chapter 10

Deacon

I can’t believe she’s coming home with me. So, yeah, I get it. She’s not actually coming home with me in the one sense I’d like her to, but on the plus side, I get to spend time with her away from the hospital. Alone.

I didn’t know what to expect when she walked into my office. I knew she would probably balk at my offer, and she did, but I also thought I’d have to fight harder to get her to agree with me. I found my head spinning as the realization that she’d be sleeping under my roof tonight finally sunk in. A part of me is elated at the fact that she gave in to my request but a small part of me is slightly uneasy because the night is still young and it can go either really well…or really, really bad. With Marina, I just never know what’ll happen between us from one moment to the next. Considering the raging hard-on I’ve been fighting to keep at bay all evening thanks to that fucking getup my mother bought her for the Christmas party, I can easily say that ninety-nine percent of me is hoping the evening will end with my dick finally buried between her finely toned thighs.

The drive to my apartment isn’t long but is taking forever due to the heavy snow already on the ground and still falling. The accumulation is difficult to navigate, but it’s the silence in the car that bothers me.

“So tell me, Marina, how does dinner sound?”

She eyes me sideways, then returns her gaze to the windshield and the wipers that are working overtime trying to keep up with the snowfall. “I’m actually really hungry. What do you have in mind?”

I grin, and answer, “Do you like Italian food?”

“Is the Pope Catholic?” was her rejoinder.

Laughing, I keep my eyes on the road and say, “Well, I make a pretty mean Marinara sauce. Does that sound good? I can pop open a bottle of wine as well.”

She smiles at me. “That sounds amazing, thank you.”

As we finally make it to my building and manage to park, I turn off the ignition and ask her to wait for me. I walk around to her side, help her from the car, and lead her to the lobby.

“Wow! This is quite the place,” she exclaims as she takes in the lavish décor. With gilded chandeliers hanging at two separate points of the foyer, marbled floors that shone, and a sitting area off to the side of the pair of elevators, the space is really a sight to see. I don’t normally pay it any attention but I can see where she would feel that way.

As we reach the top floor and the door to the elevator opens, I place my hand at the small of her back to guide her in the direction of my apartment.

The building is set up with two units on each side of the elevators from the second floor to the eighth, with the first floor being the lobby.
